With the 1960s makeup trend in full swing, we can’t help but gawk over the beauty look we spotted in the Marc Jacobs spring / summer 2013 show. Edie Sedgwick is a trued icon of the 60s. A socialite, heiress and actress, we best know her as Andy Warhol’s muse back in the day. In the present day, she served as the muse for Francois Nars, founder and creative director of Nars Cosmetics, giving us this 60s yet still very modern look.

This look features different shades of brown and nude skin which makes it the perfect 60s mod look for those who prefer earth and neutral tones. Despite being inspired by the Mod era, the look is still very Marc Jacobs, very chic and very New York as Nars would describe it. Take the black eye shadow and create a line on your crease. If you have hooded or Asian eyes you can draw this line above your crease to still get that striking effect. 

 

 

Futuristic Maharaja” Make up

Next, highlight your face by applying a base / cream foundation like MAC’s Pearl Cream Colour Base. Using your fingers apply it on the bridge of your nose, upper cheekbones, chin, and cupid’s bow. Set your highlight by dusting MAC Silver Dusk Iridescent Loose Powder with a fluff brush on the areas where you applied the cream base. This will create dimension on your face even without the presence of blush and contouring.

EYES Now it’s time to work on your eyes, start by taking kohl eye pencil something like MAC’s Smolder Eye Kohl. Apply this on the waterline or roots of your lower lashes in straight line to give it more of that Indian look.

To add more smolder, blend MAC Carbon Eye shadow or any black eye shadow over the line you just created. This also intensifies the color and softens the line made with the kohl pencil.

For that cat eye look, take a liquid eyeliner and apply it on the outer corner of your eyes. Make sure this part is sharp and defined. In the Kenzo show, MAC Blacktrack Fluidline was used to create this “cat eye”. 

Finish your eyes by taking clear lip gloss much like M·A·C PRO Gloss Texture and then applying it over the lids. This creates a striking look without taking the focus of the lower lash line. 

Beauty Look

Thick dark brows, smudged eyeliner, nude lips and pale face was the beauty look at Christopher Kane’s spring 2013 show. According to the designer himself, the spring collection was inspired by Frankenstein so it’s not surprising that the make up looked a little like a a feminine version of the Gothic literary monster. The beauty look is very simple yet there is an inherent strangeness and mystery to it.
Lucia Pieroni, make up artist for Kane’s show, transformed the collection into an elegant spring 2013 makeup look that really stands out and makes a statement. This is the kind of make up the you can wear everyday, either to work or to just run errands or go shopping. You can also transform it from a day to night look by simply adding a little bit more blush on your cheeks and some gloss on your lips. Black Eyelining for Girls

 

For many seasons, we’ve seen a lot of beauty looks that concentrate on bold, sexy statement lips combined with a very subtle and barely there eye make up. Blood red, fuchsia pink and orange were the go-to lipsticks of a lot of women for the longest time so, it is nice to see that for spring 2013, a lot of make up artists decided that it is time to see fierce eyes on women once again.

This type of make up is an everyday look that you can do yourself for only 5 minutes. You can wear this look during the daytime and just darken the eyeliner around the eyes at night.

On the runway for BCBG Max Azria’s spring 2013 show, it was all about the black gel eyeliner and coats and coats of mascara. Makeup artist, Val Garland for Temptu said the inspiration of the look was taken from “a cool girl that’s a lot like Kate Moss”. Intrigued? Pink eye shadow

 

Pink is a color that is more often than not associated with femininity; it’s also the choice for young girls because of the youthfulness and beauty it imbibes. Over the years, the color pink has transcended its usual connotation and is now a color used to stand out and be glamorous in its many different shades, for both women and men who now wear it in shirts and other “manly” articles of clothing.

Just like any other color, pink comes in many different shades. You have hot pink for the funky, baby pink for the girly and many other shades like salmon for those on the unconventional side. For this season, pink and its many different shades form a part of spring 2013′s makeup trends. While we often relate pink to blush, for this coming spring, pink will be used to brighten up eyes may it be through eyeliner or eye shadow.

If you want to take pink eyes to the next level then you are best off with using pink as eye shadow. Before you worry about not having an eye shadow in pink, let me tell you that you can use your blush as your eye shadow. Blue eyeliner for Girls Makeup

Eyeliner is one of the best make up inventions of all time: with just one stroke it can make your eye figuratively pop. And for 2013, blue eyeliner is the easiest way to indulge in the blue eye makeup trend, which is why several designers capitalised on it in their spring 2013 showings.

Just Cavalli is known for colorful pieces and for spring / summer 2013 used the blue eyed trend with a navy blue eyeliner enhanced with a hint of white (there’s something to work into your makeup repertoire right there). The navy blue line was placed on the top lid while white eyeliner was used to line the inner corner of the eyes. The result is a frosted and almost metallic look. Giorgio Armani’s makeup look for the season was similar though with a brighter shade of blue. The Armani look featured a play between light grey smokey eye shadow and shimmery turquoise blue eyeliner. The two colors on the eyes worked perfectly together.

Navy eyeliner was also the choice for Altuzarra. The upper lash line was traced with navy blue eyeliner and then complemented with a thick coat of mascara. The cheeks and the lips were kept very natural letting the eyes standout.

Blue eyeliner at Anthony Vaccarello.

Another blue eyeliner look comes from Anthony Vaccarello. Here the rims of the eyes were lined with creamy turquoise eye pencil / liner and then soft grey and pink eye shadows were dabbed on the lids. Versus’ dynamic blue eyeliner.

For a more dramatic and stand out blue eye makeup, feel free to take inspiration from Versus. Their spring/ summer 2013 collection featured a very strong look with electric blue eyeliner that took up half of the eyelids. It was complemented by soft pink eye shadow that gave contour to the eyes.
