Princess Charlene's Ocean Necklace

4081
This Fabric Flower Necklace brings a twist to traditional Mayan embroidery. Fabric is delicately embroidered and then cut away to create textured and sculptural textile jewelry. Produced as a design collaboration with Alessandra Plasa of Via Nativa, this flowered fabric necklace creatively restyles traditional embroidery techniques.he Hazen Diamond Necklace was designed by Harry Winston, Inc. The necklace is made of platinum and contains 325 diamonds that have a total weight of approximately 131.4 carats. A major factor leading to diamond's popularity as a gem was the development of cutting styles that best display the diamond's brilliance and fire. The Hazen Diamond Necklace is a good example of this as it incorporates several different cutting styles, including the pear, baguette, square, and round brilliant cuts. Mrs. Lita Annenberg Hazen donated the necklace to the Smithsonian in 1979.

Van Cleef & Arpels created unique jewelry for Princess Charlene of Monaco, a gift from her husband, Prince Albert II. The diamond and sapphire necklace, called Ocean (which transforms into a tiara) was designed to reflect former Olympic swimmer Charlene's love of water.
Ocean was crafted from 88 round diamonds -- over 44 total carats in all. Ten pear-shaped diamonds were incorporated into the design, along with 359 sapphires in three hues of blue.
The gemstones are set into asymmetrical circles that represent waves of the ocean.
